Model Description

1. Rabbits have a short gestation period (about 31 days), rapid reproduction, low maintenance cost, and moderate body size.
2. Suitable for repeated in vivo monitoring, sampling, and collection of large-scale experimental data.
3. Physiological structure and system development are closer to humans compared to rats and mice, enabling more realistic simulation of human disease mechanisms. With the advancement of frontier technologies such as gene therapy, stem cell therapy, and brain science research, the demand for mid-sized to large animal disease models is increasing. Gene-edited rabbits are easy to industrialize.

Applications

1. Used for studying metabolic syndrome: hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia, etc.
2. GTKO rabbits: A novel animal model for clinical evaluation of decellularized xenografts through in situ implantation.
